The school mentor is a person who is available to care and support the child who has chosen him/her to be such. The two arrange to meet in person on regular bases to share important or simply interesting for the child events and reflections. Their relationship is built entirely on mutual trust and friendly communication.
The mentor accepts and supports the child unconditionally. He observes his development, the manifestations of self-confidence and self-esteem, the quality of communication with others, the dynamics of his interests and his motivation to learn. The mentor is present during the process of growth, assists in goal setting, but also helps if asked to do so.
